The Valcour Strategic Group (VSG) is committed to the principle of sustainability. VSG defines sustainability simply as "utilizing and preserving resources in a manner that enables their use indefinitely." This commitment is reflected in the actions and activities of the company and its employees. VSG contributes directly to the sustainability of our resources by collaboratively developing products that enable resource sustainability, by supporting the local community and buying local, and by striving to improve the environment.
VSG creates value for clients by enabling the development of innovative new products that reduce energy and water consumption and contribute to the sustainability of natural resources. VSG strives to incorporate sustainability in the new products it develops through use of materials that have a low carbon footprint and that are sustainable. New product and application development of process and hand held instrumentation is the core area of VSG's expertise. The automated measurement and analysis of critical water and process variables are paramount to the sustainability of the food & beverage processing industry. By enabling the development of these new innovative products VSG directly contributes to the sustainability of its served customers and their products. VSG's founder has over twenty years of experience in developing, marketing, and selling products and systems that conserve energy and improve the process efficiency of diverse industrial and commercial processes.
VSG believes in contributing to its community in a manner that supports local businesses and local jobs. Our employees volunteer a minimum of one week per year assisting early stage companies typically in the food & beverage market to commercialize their new products. VSG also conducts an annual business innovation work shop for small regional companies. We recycle cardboard, glass, and plastic, donate all returnables to the local Boy Scout Chapter (Troop #8049 in Peru, NY), and host the annual Valcour Green Up Day during Earth Week to encourage the community to get out and help preserve the local environment.
In order to reduce our company’s carbon footprint, a comprehensive energy audit was begun in early 2010. VSG now uses electricity that is 60% hydroelectric and 40% wind power. Our goal is to be carbon neutral by 2015.
